Do you own a dog?

We're thinking of getting another one just trying to decide which kind.

We're considering a beagle or a corgi at the moment.

I'd rather have a collie or a lab but hubby thinks they would get too big for the kids. Me, I'm thinking after what happend to our maltese bigger is better ;)

We have a beagle and he's just so sweet with DS. They are good, tame dogs. We've just let him (and my brother let his) off the runner chain and I worry about them getting run over. They ramble alot.

Okay...honestly...does he stink?

Seems I recall from somewhere that they carry a 'odor' with them.

I told dd we'd have to keep them chained up (on a runner) when we weren't outside with them until it was old enough to learn to stay home and such., especially after what happened and that dog still exists (or at least we saw it last weekend). I was looking online at them this morning. Whatever we get we're going to spend some time researching.

I haven't noticed him stinking. He did have gnats all over him yesterday though. The only thing about Beagles (according to my cousin in law) is that they will track a scent and run it. If they ever get in the habit of tracking scents, you can't stop them. That's why ours roam. A few days ago, they were spotted several miles from the house!

We have a lab, but she doesn't get to run. I am sad about that, but she got out one day and I found her by chance. The kids are doing better with her. She is just so happy to see us(she lives in the old chicken house with a fenced in yard), that she about knocks you over.

My mom has a little tiny bishon fries.

The Bichon Frise is about the same size as our maltese was, and that is out for us now. We'd really like to avoid anything that has to be a 'inside' dog.

I knew about the scent thing with beagles, well I learned it this morning. And I'm worried that something would happen to it just like our maltese. So I'm not sure what we're going to do.

Of course a decision doesn't have to be made yet, we're going to wait until spring to get anything so we can be outside with it more, train it more, play with it more etc.

One of the Beagles got hurt tonight! We haven't seen our Beagle and I'm trying not to be concerned because they hang out alot. The one that got hurt belongs to my nephew. He was bitten by a bulldog we think. His jaw is terribly swollen and he has a deep gash in his neck area. We don't 'think' he needs a vet but we're not sure. He is walking but very slowly. My brother put peroxide on the wounds. After that, we were standing around discussing what could have happened but no one was petting him so he strolled over to DS and stood there for him to pet. It was truly precious.

Oh I'm sorry! I hope he heals up okay!!
My kids said they wanted a "Bolt" dog so we looked it up. Seems they are just as big as a lab, sure didn't look like it on the movie. Anyways dh says that is out now.
Oh well on to more research!!

The Beagle that got hurt (Scooter) is walking around a good distance from his house (we're pretty sure it was him that we saw in the field and not ours. Our Beagle (Bimbo) was finally spotted this afternoon when we got home from church. I had really began to worry that he was in the fight too and was dead, but he doesn't appear to have a scratch thank goodness. This makes me want to chain him back up, but I hate to take his freedom away.
